First National Bank in Fairfield will no longer accept Raam currency due to uncertainty in its daily exchange rate. Vedic City Mayor Bob Wynne sent out a letter to Fairfield-area merchants asking them to accept the Raam as a symbolic gesture. If businesses decided to accept it, they were informed of a possible directory being published that would have listed every business that allowed the Raam in its transactions. The decision by First National to end the handling of the Raam was not based on any response from businesses involved in the issue, but solely on an un-precise exchange structure. The Raam, which is said to be worth $10 American, was introduced by Vedic City in January as a symbol of world peace and to promote economic growth.
