Wartburg opens the division-three baseball regionals this morning against Carthage College of Wisconsin. Host Monmouth of Illinois will play top-seeded Aurora of Illinois in one of the few four-team regionals in the country. Wartburg coach Joel Holst says being in this type of region is different from being in a six-team region, as it’s not as stressful on the pitching staff.Holst says the first game in a double elimination tournament is critical and the Knights will have their ace on the mound ready to go.Holst says with the way they ended the season, the Knights feel confident they have a chance to win the regional. He says it comes down to pitching and playing good defense.
