A Scott County Sheriff’s deputy is on unpaid leave from his job afterpleading guilty to a drunk driving charge.A state trooper arrested 42-year-old Mark Garden, a detective, on April 11th, near his Eldridge home. The trooper says Garden’s unmarked squad car was weaving. Garden, a former DARE officer, later pleaded guilty. He’ll receive a deferred sentence if he successfully completes a year of unsupervised probation. He also must pay court costs, attend victim-impact classes, undergo substance abuse analysis and treatment and avoid traffic violations. Sheriff Dennis Conard will not say how long Garden’s unpaid leave will last.
