Northeastern Iowa law officers have been cleared of wrongdoing in a deadly exchange of gunfire.The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has ruled Buchanan County sheriff’s deputies acted appropriately in a fatal shooting earlier this year. Deputies were trying to serve an involuntary commitment order on 42-year-old John Campbell of Rowley in April. Campbell reportedly fired shots at the deputies who fired back and killed him. Campbell’s relatives had requested he be taken in for a mental evaluation.
