Severe thunderstorms rolled across Iowa this morning — packing high winds and heavy rains. MidAmerican Energy spokesman Kevin Waetke says around two thousand people lost power today as a result of the storms.He says the outages are primarily in central Iowa. He says a big block of the dark homes are in West Des Moines.One block of about 15-hundred people last power when a large feeder line was knocked out — possibly by wind or lightning. The National Weather Service has reports of wind gusts from 60 to 70 miles-an-hour, with one gust of 96 miles-an-hour reported in Glidden. There are also numerous reports of trees down and other wind damage to buildings throughout central and southern Iowa.
