Iowa’s Historical Society has chosen an area south of Highway 20 in Delaware County as a Scenic Byway. A special grand-opening ceremony Sunday will recognize “Delaware Crossing” as the top scenic byway highway of 2002. Donna Wall is a local representative of the Historic Society. After a luncheon, the ribbon cutting will be 12:30 and crews will start out. Wall says Delaware County’s many attractions are likely to get more visitors with the “scenic byway” designation. She says the signs along local roads saying “scenic byway” are very attractive, and not many areas are honored with the signposts. The new Scenic Byway route covers about 35 miles and includes 25 historical sites and points of interest.
