A German film crew was in the western Iowa town of Audubon this week, working on a story about September 11th. The three-person crew from Munich, led by producer-director Joachim Schroder, is producing a documentary on terrorism for German T-V.It’s a 90-minute documentary about terrorism that will air on German Television on the eve of 9-11. The crew, including Schroder, a cameraman and a sound engineer, traveled to Audubon at the invitation of the Audubon newspaper, to get people’s thoughts about terrorism in the wake of the terrorist attacks. Schroder says people he talked to expressed concern that terrorists were able to strike on U-S soil. The crew stayed with a farm family near Audubon for five days, and Schroder says Audubon was one of the only places they visited in the United States while making the film.Schroder is familiar with western Iowa. Fifteen years ago he did a portrayal of the Garst family of Coon Rapids, and had good memories of Iowa from that experience.
