A California man is chugging along in southern Iowa atop a riding lawn mower this week, halfway through a cross-country journey. King Remsberg the Third is trying to raise 100-thousand dollars which he says will be spend on Americans serving in the military overseas. He’s about 60-percent of the way to his financial goal. He hopes to buy items for 35-hundred care packages, mostly food, to be sent to the troops. Remsberg says he’s using a lawn mower for the long trek because it draws attention, but is still safe.Remsberg started the trip June 14th near Monterey, California, and will complete the journey in either New York City or Washington D-C. He explains that he’s a veteran and talks more about his motivation for the adventure. He’s progressing slowly, covering about 70 miles a day, 15 hours a day, currently following Highway 34 across southern Iowa.
