A familiar face returns to the sidelines in Decorah this season as Paul Hefty takes over as the head coach of the Luther College football team. Hefty was a three-time all-conference quarterback and Iowa Conference M-V-P for the Norse in 1986. Hefty will try to turn around a team that finished 3-7 last year. Hefty was the offensiver coordinator at Aurora University near Chicago for the past four seasons. He’s bringing the Aurora offense to Decorah. Hefty says it won’t be easy trying to bring a team along with a new offense in the Iowa Conference. Luther hasn’t had a winning season since 1992. Hefty says his goal is to bring the team along so it can hold its own in the conference. Luther opens the season September 14th at home against the University of Minnesota-Morris.
