Eastern Iowans are warned to be wary of a new telephone solicitation. The Linn County Sheriff says he’s hearing from residents who’ve been called and asked for donations for bulletproof vests that’d be used by Sheriff’s deputies who raid meth labs. Officials say they’re not asking for funds and anyone who gets a call of this sort should not donate but call the authorities.
