Iowa looks to wrap up title, ISU plays for better bowl

The sixth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes look to wrap up at least a share of the Big Ten title this weekend but must down arch-rival Minnesota on the road to get it done.Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says the Hawks have kept their minds off the B-C-S and the different scenarios and stayed focused on the task at hand. He says that needs to continue this week, as he says all the speculation is great for the fans, but it really doesn’t affect them is they don’t do a good job and win the game. Minnesota has lost two straight games but Ferentz says that is more because they have played Ohio State and Michigan.The Iowa State Cyclones close out the Big-12 race at Colorado. I-S-U is 7-4 after a 58-7 loss at Kansas State. Coach Dan McCarney says the Cyclones need to bounce back because there is still plenty on the line in the final two weeks. He says it’s a resilient team and staff and they aren’t just trying to survive. He says they want to go to a a bowl game where it’s hot, not Boise, Idaho.McCarney referring to the Humanitarian Bowl which is played in Boise. McCarney says the Cyclones remain confident.In a normal season the Cyclones would be finished at 7-4 but this season still have two games remaining. McCarney says the length of the schedule has not been the problem but the stretch of four of five games on the road against ranked teams has been taxing.
