Authorities have arrested two northeast Iowa men for robbing the only bank in Harpers Ferry. 19-year-old Matthew Lammers of Fort Atkinson and 20-year-old John Manning of Ossian have been charged with first-degree robbery. The two are accused of robbing the Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank in Harpers Ferry Tuesday morning. The police report says two men entered the bank wearing masks and one showed a handgun. They fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Police investigating the case interviewed the two last night and say they admitted to the robbery. A search of Lammers’ home in Fort Atkinson turned up cash and guns, including the handgun allegedly used in the robbery. Both are scheduled to appear in Allamakee County court today.
