Northeast Iowa landfill will take deer remains

An northeast Iowa landfill is trying to help hunters deal with fears of a deer disease. Due to concerns over chronic wasting disease (C-W-D) in nearby southwest Wisconsin, the Fayette County Landfill says it will accept deer waste. The landfill will accept deer bones, legs and heads through January 15th. The disease has been found in Wisconsin deer, but not deer in Iowa. The disease is only carried in the animals, but officials are concerned about properly disposing the waste from processed deer. The shotgun deer season opens Saturday in Iowa.
