Voters in two northeast Iowa counties voted for issues to fund schools. Voters in the Valley Community School District in Fayette County approved a physical plant and equipment levy that’ll fund a one-point-two-eight million dollar school constructions and renovation project. The levy will be used as matching funds for a state grant. Most voters in Chickasaw County approved a local option sales tax to raise money for area schools. The issue passed in New Hampton, Ionia, Fredericksburg, Lawler and North Washington. It failed to pass in Nashua and Alta Vista. The money from the tax will be used for school improvements and property tax relief.
