Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman formally entered the Presidential race yesterday. Lieberman, who was Al Gore’s running mate in 2000, says he’s a “different kind of democrat.’Lieberman says he embraces the core ideal of the Democratic party which he describes as opportunity for all but special privilege for none. But Lieberman says he’s willing to stand up and be an independent on issues of economic growth or national security, He says we face some very difficult challenges and we need leadership that’s not ordinary political leadership. Lieberman will be in Iowa before the end of the month. Lieberman says he wants to build on the knowledge Iowans have of him from his vice presidential bid. Lieberman’s last visit to Iowa was in August when he visited the Iowa State Fair on the same day as President Bush.
