Iowa is playing host to a yearly visitor who mostly eats and runs. Saylorville Lark Park Ranger Kelly Ulrick says as many as 80 bald eagles can be seen at one time at the lake this time of year. Ulrick says eagles like to come south to Iowa to spend the winter, as they find open water and fish in the rivers here. Ulrick says November through March is a great time to watch for eagles in the sky. Ulrick says that large bird you thought was a hawk could very well be the national symbol.Ulrick says it takes an eagle five years to mature into having the white head and tail.
