The man accused of causing a fatal car crash six months ago that killed a U-N-I student from Akron has entered a guilty plea rather than face trial on the charges. Eighteen-year-old Lisa Oetken of Akron was killed on a Friday night last September as she and two college friends were driving home for the weekend. Police say they were chasing 39-year-old Michael Dunn, and during the pursuit his car smashed into Oetken’s in rural Hamilton County. Dunn pleaded guilty yesterday to vehicular homicide, and two counts of serious injury by vehicle. He’ll be sentenced March 31st. Oetken’s parents recently went to the statehouse to lobby for a bill which would let officers at the scene of a wreck that kills or seriously injures someone to immediately collect a blood sample from a suspected drunk driver. Lisa’s parents contend Dunn was drunk, but avoided a drunken driving charge by refusing an immediate blood test. Dunn’s attorney has said his client did submit to a blood test, and it showed he had no alcohol in his system. .
