An exhibit displaying artifacts from the World War Two-era opens this weekend in Mason City. The exhibit includes items from German prisoners of war who were held in Iowa during the early 1940s. Michael Luick-Thrams is helping organize the exhibit which he says may be able to put the current conflict with Iraq in perspective. He says it shows Iowans experience 60 years ago in war. Luick-Thrams says the exhibit opens this weekend and will be around until the end of May. Luick-Thrams says they have some very interesting items from the World War Two era on display, including items seized from the Germans, like helmets and daggers with the Nazi insignia. He says they also have three suitcases and several chess sets carved from stolen broom handles made by the prisoners. The exhibit at Music Man Square opens Saturday at one P.M.
