Stormy weather’s hurt the progress of Iowa’s corn and soybean crops. The State Agriculture Department says corn planting is nearly 100 done, while four percent of the soybeans remain to be planted. The report says the crops that’re already up didn’t grow much due to cooler temperatures and a lack of sunshine. And it says the rainy weather also made it tough for farmers trying to get the hay in the barn. Still, with the weather setback, only one percent of the corn was rated in very poor condition and three percent poor. The rest of the corn looked like this: 19 percent in fair condition, 60 percent good, and 17 percent excellent. Soybean conditions were similar, with one percent rated very poor, three percent poor, 20 percent fair, 64 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.
