Warm humid weather continues to be good for Iowa’s crops. The weekly report from the state Agriculture Department says the weather helped the corn grow about eleven inches this past week. The average height of the corn was nearly six feet tall, while the tallest corn measured 83 inches — or just about seven feet tall. Over half the corn crop has reached the critical tasseling stage. The corn condition rated out at one percent very poor, three percent poor, 12 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 30 percent excellent. The soybean condition rated one percent very poor, three percent poor, 14 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 24 percent excellent. The report says livestock conditions were good, but the warm weather was a drawback for them as it kept daily weight gains down a little.
