Champions were crowned over the weekend at the state high school baseball tournament.In Marshalltown, Carlisle won the 2A title and West Des Moines Valley won the 4A title.Carlisle pitcher Drew Laidig earned his second win of the tournament and was helped by a pair of homers from T.J. Cataldo to take the title 6-2 over Dyersville-Beckman.Valley built a reputation for pitching but the bats were on display in the championship game winning by the ten-run rule 13-3 in five innings.Valley coach Steve Mohr called it a hitting demonstration. After tossing a one-hitter in the opening round T.J. Tousley came back on one days rest and threw a four-hitter. In Carroll, Harlan won the 3A title over Waukee 4-3. Van Meter downed Granville-Spalding by the same score to take the 1A title.
