Iowa State coach Dan McCarney says Austin Flynn will be the starting quarterback when the Cyclones visit 11th-ranked Nebraska. Flynn relieved Chris Love at halftime of I-S-U’s 40-19 loss to Texas and had 123 yards of passing and 43 yards of rushing in the second half of play. McCarney says they made the decision after the game Saturday.Freshman running back Stevie Hicks is seeing more action and McCarney says that trend will continue. He says Mike Wagner will start and it’ll be like Saturday when both backs split the carries. McCarney says Hicks is healthy now after a toe injury and will get more and more carries. The Cyclones need to find a way to move the ball against a rejuvenated Nebraska defense that has led the Huskers to a 6-1 mark. He says the “Blackshirts are alive and well”, playing “lights out defense.”
