A Waterloo woman is going to jail for not stopping her boyfriend from abusing her child. Christine McFadden pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangerment and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. McFadden’s plea comes less than two weeks after the sentencing of her boyfriend on several similar charges. Alonzo Flores of Waterloo was sentenced to 25 years in prison on three counts of child endangerment. Prosecutors alleged Flores beat McFadden’s six-year-old boy with a belt, a flashlight, a TV cord, and his fists. He also allegedly burned the child with a cigarette lighter and made him take ice baths. Investigators believe the incidents occurred several times between September 2002 and June 2003. Flores pleaded guilty to the charges. Authorities say they charged McFadden with one count of child endangerment after information she gave to police and statements made by her son both revealed that she knew the abuse was taking place and did not stop it from occurring.
