Federal agents closed down and searched Ag Services of America headquarters in Cedar Falls on Friday, but officials are mum about the reason behind the raid. Doug Peterson reports the company’s open for business today. Agents from the U-S-D-A and the F-B-I were brought in from around the country to conduct the search. Sources say the feds had employees meet in the building’s atrium and asked workers to fill our questionnaires. Employees were asked to turn their computers on, and provide the agents with their passwords. Each employee and their work area was searched. The C-E-O of Ag Services is offering no public comment about the search, and a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Cedar Rapids also declined comment. Late last year, Ag Services was sold to a Dutch investment banking firm called Rabobank International for 47-million dollars.
