Authorities say alcohol -may- have played a role in a three-vehicle accident Friday night that killed a Des Moines woman and her seven-year-old son. More charges are pending against 20-year-old Regino Nicolas of Oskaloosa, the driver suspected of driving drunk and causing the wreck six miles west of Pella. The Iowa State Patrol has already charged Nicolas with vehicular homicide and serious injury by vehicle…and now await the toxicology results from the D-C-I lab in Des Moines. The accident occured when Nicolas, who was heading eastbound along G-28, crossed the center line and struck the westbound Des Moines family’s Chevy Malibu and an Indianola couple’s Toyota Camry that was following behind. The accident also injured the father and two other children in the Malibu, the couple from Indianola and Nicolas. The patrol noted seatbelts saved the livesof the Indianola residents.
