Cedar Rapids police have charged a man with trying to rip people off at a garage sale. Police were called to a neighborhood garage sale Saturday on the report of someone who was believed to be passing counterfeit bills. Police say they arrested 29-year-old Daniel Allie of Cedar Rapids and an acquaintance who were holding 300 dollars in fake ten-dollar bills. Allie had apparently tried to pass a couple of the fake tens at a garage sale. Police say they found Allie had been printing up the bills on his home computer. They confiscated the computer, paper, and other materials they believe he used to make the bills. They’ve also called in the Secret Service to work with them on the case.
