There is a new top ranked team in class 4A in the latest Radio Iowa/Baseball Coaches Association High School Poll. Ankeny takes over the top spot, moving up from the number 4 spot last week. It’s been a successful transition for Ankeny coach Mark Hey after tens years as assistant coach, Hey is in his first season as the top man and the Hawks won 18 of their first 19 games. Cedar Rapids Jefferson is 2nd in 4A, Dowling Catholic 3rd, Cedar Rapids Kennedy in 4th and Iowa City High in 5th. The rest of the rankings remained the same. Hey felt he had a good ballclub heading into the season and says he is not concerned about how his team will handle the top ranking.
