Environmental damage is still being assessed after a sewage spill in western Iowa’s Ida County. Several hundred-thousand gallons of partially-treated sewage was bypassed into a tributary of the Maple River near Holstein over the weekend due to a pump failure at the city’s wastewater treatment plant. D-N-R officials say the pump should be fixed later today.
