A small northern Iowa community decided Tuesday to go off the grid, so to speak. Voters in the Kossuth County town of Titonka have said yes to the prospect of creating a municipal utility for the town of 584. The vote tally from the Kossuth County auditor’s office was 149 yes and 59 no. The voter turnout was 53 percent of 393 registered voters in the community. City officials say an electric light and power plant and system will be established.
