The University of Northern Iowa football team will be counting again on the foot of Brian Wingert. Wingert was a pleasant surprise for the Panthers last year after he was pulled out of his redshirt year in the fifth game due to an injury to Brian Stegall. Wingert promptly connected on 13 of 15 field goals attempts with his longest effort being 49-yards. He also missed just one extra point in 23-attempts. Now entering his sophomore season, the Cedar Falls native feels more comfortable. He says it is easier knowing there’s a spot for him and he’s a little more secure in his job.Wingert hopes to have a productive season with goals of keeping his percentage at or above last year and to not miss any P-A-T’s.UNI opens the season September fourth against Iowa State.
