Nodaway Valley will play one of nearly 30 boys basketball games when the season opens tonight. The Wolverines finished last season ranked #3 in the final Radio Iowa 2-A poll and lost to the eventual state champ, PCM by two points in the sub-state game. Nodaway Valley coach Darrell Burmeister expects strong guard play once again this season. Burmeister says he hopes his younger players can step into the team’s forward and center positions. He says the junior varsity and the freshman teams were undefeated last year, and he says they think they have some quality players that just need some floor time. The Wolverines open their season tonight against Dallas Center-Grimes.
