Iowa already has at least a dozen ethanol plants turning corn into fuel with plans to build a half-dozen more. Add another new one to the list in north-central Iowa. Officials with the Sioux Falls-based Broin Companies are working to build an ethanol plant near Jewell in southern Hamilton County. The proposed plant would be known as Horizon Ethanol. Broin officials say surveying, permitting and other site development efforts are moving briskly, with the possibility ground will be broken next spring. The firm hopes to produce 60-million gallons of ethanol at the plant each year, creating 40 jobs.
