For the first time this year’s Iowa Winter Games will include youth wrestling. Executive director Jim Hallihan says the competetion will include kindergarten through eighth grade and came about becure of former Iowa State coach Jim Gibbons’ involvement with the wrestling club in the town of Perry. He says they always wanted to get it going, but didn’t have the facilities and the people to run it. He says they could have as many as 300 people involved in a couple of years. Hallihan says there was not a facility in Dubuque available to host the competition on the weekend of the Winter Games so it will be held in Perry. He says it’ll be January 29th. It is the 13th year for the winter games and the bulk of the competition will be February fith and sixth in Dubuque.
