This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa and one of the newer things people can use to keep tabs on developing weather is a NOAA weather radio. National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Johnson says people should think about getting a weather radio for their homes. Johnson says weather radios help pass along life-saving information quickly. Johnson says today’s weather radios are so technologically sophisticated that you can customize what information you want to receive. Manufacturers of the weather radios have done a great job, allowing you to program in the various watches or warnings just for your county or for a wider area. For more information about NOAA weather radio, surf to the National Weather Service home page at “www.nws.noaa.gov”.
