Witnesses say smoke from an early morning fire in Des Moines could be seen for miles. Radio Iowa’s A combination office-apartment complex on the northeast side of Des Moines went up in flames. Some people on the second floor had to jump to safety and a young girl was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters shut down a major street during rush hour to fight the fire. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
