A federal jury has convicted a Klemme woman for helping her boyfriend in the drug slaying of five north-central Iowans. After deliberating for around seven hours, a federal jury found 41-year-old Angela Johnson guilty of five counts of conspiracy to commit murder while involved in a drug enterprise and five counts of committing murder during a continuing criminal enterprise. Johnson was accused of helping Dustin Honken kill drug informants Terry DeGeus (day-GOOS) and Greg Nicholson, Nicholson’s girlfriend, and her two daughters in 1993, then burying the bodies in the Mason City area. Jurors return to the U-S District Courthouse in Sioux City next Tuesday for the second phase of the trial to determine if Johnson is eligible for the death penalty. A jury last year found Honken guilty and recommended the death penalty on two counts, but sentencing in his case has been delayed on appeal.
