The entry deadline for youth soccer at the Iowa Games is fast approaching. Executive director Jim Hallihan says there are two deadlines this year, June first for the mail and June six for internet registration. Hallihan says the two different deadlines makes it easier to put the schedule together so they don’t have to hold up the schedule for one team. Hallihan says participation in youth soccer has gone back up since teams no longer need to qualify through regional play. He says they originally had to have qualifying because of the availability of fields. He says teams didn’t want to commit to two weeks if they didn’t know if they were going to qualify. The youth soccer competition runs July 14th through the 17th in Ames.
