A student at Coe College in Cedar Rapids from Nepal has pleaded guilty to trying to manufacture a social security card to get a job. In a plea agreement in federal court in Cedar Rapids, Tuesday, 22-year-old Vivek Shrestha admitted that in May of this year he used computer equipment in the Coe College Library to scan a copy of his restricted Social Security card with the intent of creating a new card without work restrictions. Shrestha intended to use the counterfeit card to apply for employment in Washington, D.C. Shrestha faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a 250-thousand dollar fine.
