While there’s no shortage of candidates who want to be Iowa’s Chief Executive — that’s not the case in a lot of cities seeking leaders in today’s elections.A number of ballots in cities will have no names on the ballot as no one filed to run for city council or mayor. In northeast Iowa there are several cities with ballots that have nothing but blanks for the voters to fill in. The communities of Elkport, Garber, Millville and Osterdock in Delaware County, as well as Delaware and Dundee in Delaware County, no-one filed as candidates for mayor or city council. Voters will have to write in their choice for mayor and council in Castalia (kas-Tayl-yuh) and Spillville in Winneshiek County. Numerous cities also have council position in which not enough candidates have filed to run for the open seats.
