An Iowa State University student has died after he was hit by a bus on campus. It wasn’t a schoolbus or one of Ames’ brightly-colored city “Cy-Ride” buses that hit the 21-year-old senior as campus cops say he darted out from between two stopped vehicles…into the path of a Midwest Transportation Services charter bus on Pammel Drive Tuesday afternoon. It was out in front of the I-S-U Molecular Biology building, and Biochemistry senior Robert Stupka of St. Paul Minnesota was taken to an Ames hospital, then airlifted to the Twin Cities where he died Wednesday morning from his injuries. It’s not clear if the accident happened at a crosswalk but I-S-U campus police are still investigating.
