The Iowa basketball team is looking to accomplish a first this season. With a 13-0 record at home the Hawkeyes are looking to become the first Iowa team to go through a season unbeaten in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawks are 5-2 in the Big Ten and 16-5 overall heading into Wednesday night’s game at Purdue.

Iowa coach Steve Alford says they set the goal before the season and are now four games away from that. Alford says if you lose early that goal gets shot, and he says they now are one win shy the best home record in school history.

By winning at home teams can also stay in league races. Alford says the rule of thumb is if you go 8-0 at home and 4-4 on the road and don’t win the league, you’re still in it. Alford says they’re still in the league hunt.
