A rural Grinnell man is dead after a motorcycle accident last night. Poweshiek county Sheriff Tom Sheets reports that shortly before 9:00 last night, the sheriff’s office got a call about the accident just south of Grinnell. Deputies located a 1989 Kawasaki motorcycle on its side partially in the roadway.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 52-year old Steven Eakins. Eakins was apparently southbound on 20th St when he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn. Eakins was pronounced dead at the scene. Eakins was transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
