Delaware County authorities have now confirmed that four children died in a farmhouse fire near the small town of Greeley in Delaware County early Wednesday morning. The children are identified as 14-year-old Abigail Zeil, eight-year old Tyler Hansen, seven-year-old Megan Hansen and three-year-old Haylee Hansen.
Authorities say all of the children lived in the home of Allen and Nicole Hansen at 1234 252nd Avenue northeast of Greeley, where the fire broke out. The bodies have been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny. A number of people were in the home when the fire broke out shortly before 1:30 a-m.
Four others were injured in the fire, including a mother who was taken to Iowa City hospitals with spinal injuries. The fire remains under investigation by the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Greeley Fire Department and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
