It was no contest in Ames as Iowa State clobbered Alabama A&M 98-40. The Cyclones made 23 of 30 shots in the second half to move to 2-0. I.S.U. coach Fred Hoiberg was looking for a 40 minute effort and got it.

He says they had good intensity and kept up the pressure on defense all night long. Hoiberg says he has been happy with the Cyclones effort at the defensive end of the floor.

“It’s something that when you don’t make shots at the rate that you want, then you are still going to stay in games,” Hoiberg explains.

Tyus McGee led Iowa State with 18 points, George Niang added 17 as the Cyclones improve to 2-0.
