A Cedar Rapids man has been sentenced to just over five years in prison for contributing to the drug overdose deaths of two people. In a plea agreement last October, Tim Bowen II admitted he’d been prescribed methadone for an injury, but sold the 60 pills to another person from Hiawatha in December 2010.

The purchaser of the powerful pain reliever and another person died as a result of taking Bowen’s methadone combined with other drugs. Bowen was sentenced Wednesday to 63 months in federal prison and ordered to pay more than $2,300 in restitution to the family of one of the victims.
