Air travelers in Iowa who are hoping to catch a flight out during this winter storm should check in with their airlines for delays or groundings due to the snow. Many southwest Iowans fly out of Omaha, where Chris Martin is director of operations at Eppley Airfield. Martin says there are some flights being canceled, but not many.

“The only flight cancellations we’ve had so far is United Airlines has canceled its operations until the arrival of its overnight aircraft this evening,” Martin says. Omaha is expecting up to eight inches of snow in this storm.

One other airline has grounded a single flight. “Frontier has canceled one flight to Denver so far and I know the other airlines are reviewing their operations as the storm progresses,” Martin says. A manager at the Des Moines International Airport says no flights in to or out of Iowa’s capitol city have been canceled.

No weather-related cancellations or delays are reported either from the Quad City Airport in Moline or the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.
