Three people are facing charges following a pair of shootings in Dubuque Monday night. The first occurred just before 9 p.m. Dubuque Police Lieutenant Scott Baxter says officers responded to the 1200 block of Iowa Street on the report of shots fired and found a large street fight in progress. Most of the individuals involved fled the scene.

Police were able to apprehend 23-year-old Christopher Sharpe II and 20-year-old Davon Harrison, both of Dubuque. Both men are charged with disorderly conduct. “Investigators are still trying to determine who else was involved and obviously additional charges are pending,” Baxter said.

Evidence collected in the area confirmed shots were fired during the fight, but there were no reports of injuries. A couple hours later, police responded to a report of a man with a gun at 15th and Bluff Streets in Dubuque. Officers located the man, later identified as 29-year-old Daniel Campbell, Jr. of Dubuque.

“(Campbell) took off running from the officers and the officers pursued. During that foot pursuit, (Campbell) was observed discarding one gun. The pursuit continued and (Campbell) pointed a gun behind him and fired a round. Fortunately, the officers were not struck by the round,” Baxter said.

Campbell was eventually captured. He faces charges of going armed with intent, possession of a firearm as a felon and two counts of trafficking stolen weapons. Police are still trying to determine if the two shootings are related.
