The Waterloo man who was subject of a manhunt this week is now jailed and charged with first-degree murder. Thirty-six-year-old Shaun Hogan was arrested after being interviewed by investigators from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation yesterday afternoon.

He’s expected to make his initial court appearance later this morning. Hogan is accused of 29-year old Crystal Gaffney, also of Waterloo. Her body was found early Wednesday near the Linn County community of Walker. Linn County Sheriff’s officials say Hogan and Gaffney had a child together and she was also the mother of two other children.

month old daughter.The three children were the subjects of an Amber Alert issued late Wednesday night. The children were all found safe about one hour after that alert was issued.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled Gaffney’s death a homicide. Hogan is being held without bond in the Linn County Jail in Cedar Rapids.
