A crash in southwestern Iowa’s Cass County on Thursday afternoon killed one person and injured another.
The Iowa State Patrol says 67-year-old Mary Lou Ranney died in the head-on crash that took place at around 1 p.m., while 72-year-old Robert James Bagshaw was seriously injured. Both are from Massena.
Officials say for reasons unknown, Ranney’s car crossed the center line of Highway 92 about three-miles west of Massena, and collided with Bagshaw’s full-size pickup truck. Ranney, who was wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. Bagshaw, who was not wearing his seat belt, was flown by helicopter to a trauma center in Omaha. Initial dispatch reports said he was suffering from severe back pain. The accident remains under investigation.
