The second big weekend of racing at the Iowa Speedway will be highlighted by Sunday afternoon’s running of the Iowa Corn 300. Helio Castroneves is currently second in points in the IndyCar Series and will be in search of his first victory of the season at a track that he says is physically taxing to race on.

“It is a short track with high speed corners and a high G load”, said Castroneves. “We are pulling almost 5 Gs out there in those corners and this year it may be even more because we have more down force. It is going to be interesting.”

There could also be a change in strategy. The race is 50 laps longer than previous years.

“It may require an additional pit stop but the good news is it is going to be the same for everyone.”

The track opens for practice runs on Saturday morning. There is an ARCA race on Saturday night and an Indy Lights race at 2:15p.m. on Sunday before the Iowa Corn 300 begins at 4:40p.m.
